About Split Easy Tip

Split Easy Tip is a free online tip calculator and bill split calculator. It exists for one moment: the end of a meal, when the check arrives and someone has to work out the gratuity and who owes what.

The tool is deliberately small. You enter the bill, optionally add sales tax, pick a tip percentage (or type your own), and set the number of people. Everything recalculates as you type, so there is no button to press and no waiting.

How it works

All arithmetic runs in your browser using plain JavaScript. There is no account system and no database, which is why the calculator loads quickly and works well on a weak restaurant connection.

Who it is for

It is built mainly for diners in the United States and other English-speaking countries, and supports US dollars, euros, British pounds, and Canadian and Australian dollars for travel and group meals abroad.
