Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information GetSplitTip handles when you use the site, why, and what your choices are. The short version: the calculator runs entirely in your browser, and your bill figures are never stored or sent to us.

Information we collect

GetSplitTip does not ask for or collect personal information such as your name, email address, or payment details. There is no sign-up, no login, and no contact form.

Information you provide

Because there are no forms or accounts, the only information you can "provide" is what you type into the calculator — and as explained below, that stays on your device.

Calculator data

Bill amounts, sales tax, tip percentages, currency choice, and the number of people are processed locally in your browser's memory while the page is open. They are not saved to a database, not written to server-side storage, and not transmitted to us. Closing or reloading the page clears them.

How we use information

We use limited, aggregated usage information (described under Analytics) to understand which pages are visited and to improve the site. We do not sell personal information, and we do not build individual user profiles.

Cookies and similar technologies

The calculator itself does not set cookies. Our analytics provider (below) may set cookies to distinguish visits. Our hosting provider may also process standard technical request information, such as IP address and browser type, in order to serve the page and protect the service.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics (GA4) to measure site traffic — for example, which pages are viewed, approximate geographic region, device type, and how visitors move between pages. Google Analytics may set cookies and process data according to Google's own privacy policy. We do not use it to identify you personally. You can opt out with a browser extension such as Google Analytics Opt-out, or by blocking analytics cookies in your browser settings.

Advertising

The site includes a Google AdSense script so the site can be reviewed for advertising, but no advertisements are currently displayed. If advertising is enabled in the future, third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on those visits.

You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies at aboutads.info. Third-party services

The site relies on a small number of third parties: our hosting provider (to serve the pages), Google Analytics (usage measurement), and Google Fonts (typefaces). Each processes limited technical data under its own privacy policy.

Data security

The site is served over HTTPS. Because calculator entries never leave your browser, there is no server-side store of your figures to secure or breach.

Data retention

Calculator inputs are retained only in your browser's memory for as long as the page is open. Analytics data is retained according to our Google Analytics settings and is not linked to your identity by us.

Children's privacy

The site is a general-purpose calculator and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.

If the site links to other websites, we are not responsible for their content or privacy practices. Please review the privacy policy of any site you visit.

Your rights

Because we do not collect personal information through accounts or forms, there is generally no personal data for us to access, correct, or delete on your behalf. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights regarding analytics data; you can exercise control by blocking analytics cookies or using Google's opt-out tools.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated as the site changes — for example, if advertising is enabled. The version published here is always the current one.
